The "Ally McBeal" Law School Scholarship Fund
Sponsored by the Osias Foundation
Preface:
The Osias Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation chartered in the State of New York, is prepared to provide a $25,000 law school scholarship to the individual who meets specific criteria outlined below and who embodies the personal philosophy and career ideology presented in the fictional television character Ally McBeal.
This scholarship will be offered to one individual for the purpose of underwriting their academic studies in law. It will be paid directly to the university in equal payments during the tenure of the student's studies.
The scholarship will be forfeit in the event the individual fails to maintain a passing academic average. The student will provide the Osias Foundation with an original copy of her transcript through the course of the academic year.
Criteria:
This scholarship is eligible to any woman over the age of 18, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, geography or financial income.
The applicant must either be employed full time or enrolled in an undergraduate college, or university program, with the intention of pursuing a law degree.
Applicants must be able to provide first person biographical information that affirms the goals and objectives of the Osias Foundation's Ally McBeal Law School Scholarship.
The applicant must write an essay of 300 words or more that would provide the Foundation's panel of judges insight into how the individual has embraced, and effectively used, the philosophy articulated in the Ally McBeal television program whereby the use of femininity and their application of sexual tension has aided the applicant in cracking the glass ceiling that has impeded their professional career or academic growth.
In addition to the first person written narrative of at least 300 words, the applicant may submit still photography, a two minute VHS video tape articulating their position, third person endorsements with recommendations that may be provided by written letter or VHS standard video tape.
Materials will not be returned to the applicant and will become the property of the Osias Foundation. No application package requiring postage due will be accepted.
The screening judges will be selected by the Osias Foundation. Applicants familiar with the judges will be disqualified for participation in the scholarship program.
As part of the final selection process, the applicant may be asked to participate in a review committee screening process that would either be convened in that person's metropolitan area or at a location convenient to the committee and the applicant. Travel expenses would not be reimbursed by the committee.
The applicant may be asked to participate in media interviews regarding their award in the event they are chosen as the recipient of the scholarship.
Ms. Monica Lewinsky is not eligible for this scholarship.
